Chandigarh, July 24, 2025 – In a dazzling display of talent and tenacity, 17-year-old Janvi Jindal from Chandigarh has etched her name in history as the youngest Indian girl to secure five Guinness World Records in freestyle skating. Her extraordinary achievements, officially ratified in July 2025, have not only put Chandigarh on the global map but also inspired countless young athletes across India to chase their dreams with unwavering determination.
Janvi’s remarkable records include the most 360-degree rotations on inline skates in 30 seconds (27 spins), the fastest slalom through 20 cones on two wheels (8.85 seconds), the most one-wheeled 360-degree spins in 30 seconds (42 spins), the most one-wheeled 360-degree spins in one minute (72 spins), and the most consecutive one-wheeled 360-degree spins (22 spins). These feats, accomplished without the guidance of a professional coach, highlight her exceptional skill and perseverance.
What makes Janvi’s journey truly inspiring is her self-taught approach. With no freestyle skating coaches available in Chandigarh, her father, Munish Jindal, took on the role of her mentor, learning techniques from YouTube videos and guiding her late into the night after work. Janvi honed her skills on public pathways, at the Sector 22 market, and the Rose Garden Underpass, often practicing in the evenings to balance her studies at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16. “It was clear to me from the beginning that I wanted to do something in life that I was passionate about,” Janvi shared in an interview with ANI.
Her journey began at the age of eight when she asked her parents for a pair of roller skates, sparking a love for adventure that extended to activities like river rafting and rock climbing. Over the years, Janvi’s passion for freestyle skating grew, driven by her desire to express creativity through her moves. “I wanted to do more creative things in skating, which roller freestyle and inline freestyle offer,” she told The Indian Express. Her dedication paid off with multiple national medals, including a gold in Roller Freestyle at the 57th National Roller-Skating Championship in Visakhapatnam in 2019 and additional medals in subsequent years.
Beyond her technical achievements, Janvi has broken new ground by blending cultural elements into her sport. She is the first in the world to perform Bhangra on skates, a feat that earned her recognition in the India Book of Records in 2021. She also pioneered yoga on skates and performed the maximum wheelie spins at Khardung La Pass, showcasing her innovative spirit. These accomplishments have made her a trailblazer, earning her accolades as the only female athlete from Chandigarh to achieve such international acclaim and the highest Guinness record-holding girl under 18 in India.
The road to these records was not without challenges. Janvi’s first attempt at a Guinness World Record in 2024 was rejected due to a technicality, but her resilience shone through. “It took her two to three months to perfect the spinning move,” said her father, Munish, who emphasized the rigorous year-long process of securing a Guinness record. Despite limited resources and the high costs of international competitions, the family turned to Guinness World Records as a platform for global recognition. “Janvi’s discipline and sincerity towards the game took her to this position,” Munish proudly told Social News XYZ.
Janvi’s story is a beacon of hope for young Indians, particularly girls, whom she hopes to inspire to take up sports. “I want to show children, especially girls, that passion and hard work can take you anywhere,” she said, expressing her dream of earning the Bal Puraskar, India’s highest civilian honor for youth. Her ambition extends to representing India at the Asian Games, where inline freestyle skating is now a recognized event.
Supported by her parents, Munish and Divya Jindal, Janvi has become a role model for India’s youth, proving that limitations like lack of infrastructure or formal coaching can be overcome with passion and ingenuity. Her journey from practicing on footpaths to achieving global recognition underscores the power of self-belief and perseverance. As she celebrated her records at the Rose Garden Underpass with her proud parents, Janvi dedicated her achievements to them, saying, “Achieving five Guinness World Records is a truly special feeling for all of us.”
Janvi Jindal’s story is a testament to the idea that with determination, creativity, and a supportive family, even the most ambitious dreams can become reality. Her achievements not only elevate Chandigarh’s sporting legacy—following in the footsteps of cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, who also holds two Guinness records—but also inspire a new generation to pursue their passions fearlessly.
