Smriti Tandon: Revolutionizing Rural Healthcare in India with Innovation, Access, and Empowerment

Smriti Tandon is a dynamic force in the Indian healthcare landscape, blending her diverse background with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. She is on a mission to make quality healthcare accessible across India.

A graduate of Liverpool University with additional credentials from the London School of Economics, Smriti spent a decade in the automobile industry, successfully running and expanding her Maruti Suzuki dealership business. She led business growth, scaled operations across multiple locations, optimized sales strategies, and strengthened customer engagement. Overseeing the dealership’s daily operations, she streamlined processes, implemented efficient systems, and built a strong service network—sharpening her business acumen, strategic thinking, and operational expertise.

Her time in this high-paced sector sharpened her business acumen, strategic thinking, and operational expertise. Beyond financial and operational management, she championed workplace diversity, integrating women into core roles like workshop management and breaking industry norms where they were typically confined to back-office work.

In 2022, she joined forces with her brother, Shubhang Tandon, to expand and scale Online Chikitsa Mitra. Witnessing the deep-rooted healthcare disparities in India’s rural regions, Smriti took on a leadership role to drive growth and impact. With rural communities facing limited medical infrastructure, a shortage of healthcare professionals, and a lack of awareness about proper medical care, the brother-sister duo is working to bridge these gaps through technology-driven, long-term healthcare solutions that prioritize accessibility and affordability.

As a woman entrepreneur, Smriti is not just breaking barriers—she is creating pathways for more women to access and advocate for their right to healthcare. Deep-rooted societal taboos often restrict women’s access to medical services, with many lacking financial autonomy or the ability to visit a doctor without a male companion. Through Online Chikitsa Mitra, she is actively driving change, ensuring that women have direct access to digital healthcare, consultations, and awareness programs so that no woman is denied medical attention due to societal constraints.

As she continues to reshape the landscape of rural healthcare in India, her vision remains crystalline: to bridge critical healthcare gaps, empower underserved communities, and ensure that quality medical care reaches those who need it most. Through her leadership at Online Chikitsa Mitra, Smriti Tandon stands as a testament to the power of combining business excellence with social impact, creating lasting change in India’s healthcare ecosystem.

Beyond her dedication to healthcare transformation, Smriti embodies the spirit of continuous creation and innovation. As a trained pâtissier from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, London, she approaches baking as more than an artistic pursuit—it represents the same principles of precision, innovation, and dedication that characterise her entrepreneurial journey. This philosophy permeates every aspect of her work: whether crafting a business strategy or perfecting a culinary creation, her approach remains steadfast in building something meaningful, impactful, and enduring.
