Jagriti Yatra is an initiative of Jagriti Sewa Sansthan, a non-governmental organization that promotes entrepreneurship. The initiative was launched in 2008. In Hindi, Jagriti Yatra means a journey of awakening and as the name suggests it is a journey of social awakening.
Jagriti Yatra is slowly developing into an ecosystem to further the movement of enterprise-led-development among the youth in India. Jagriti Yatra aims to awaken the Indian youth by exposing them to individuals and institutions that are developing unique solutions to India’s challenges by spiriting them with the term entrepreneurship both socially and economically. Jagriti Yatra is assumed to say that they are visiting inspire tykes to steer and develop institutions nationally (or internationally) and within their communities, and solve problems using their own enterprises.
Yatris visit 15 Role Models at 12 destinations covering The Indian States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat during a train that transports only the travelers of the Jagriti Yatra. The individuals who go for the journey are imagined to board the train for the span of 15–18 days and interact with their fellow travelers but today, under the impact of COVID-19 crisis, the Jagriti Yatra is carrying over 700 Yatris on a journey of national exploration through digital means for 15 days from 24th December to 8th January in all means Jagriti turned it into an opportunity by launching Jagriti Digital Yatra 2020 (JDY 2020) to push ‘Udyamita’ or ‘Enterprise’ on a very large scale.
Jagriti Digital Yatra 2020 seeks to multiply the quantity of participants, outreach and its impact. It’ll engage 1000 Digital Yatris using digital platforms for group work and experience; bringing enterprise learning through leader visits and digital maps. Yatris will interact through live sessions with 12 role models’ at key locations where the Yatra stops and can undertake business plan competitions. Dr. RA Mashelkar, R. Gopalakrishnan are the national guests appearing in Jagriti Digital Yatra 2020 . The Yatra will host panel discussions on 6 key issues relevant for smaller towns and districts – Health, Women empowerments, Digital, Rurbanization, Agriculture, Apparel and Handicrafts, subjects that are the main focus of the Jagriti Enterprise Center – Purvanchal (JECP). The Yatra will have 90+ hours of content and engagement with 100+ speakers over 15 days. Peer to see interaction with participants forms the core of the digital learning process, with online learning-by-doing. The 700 ‘Learning Yatris’ will learn by following this 15 day national journey on each day.
