The name Naked Nature itself carries a profound message – products in their purest, most unadulterated form. It all started as an initiative in India to raise awareness about organic dairy products, but it soon evolved into something much greater. Naked Nature proudly holds the title of being the world’s first skincare and haircare brand made with desi-cow ghee, deeply rooted in Indian tradition. This is not just a brand; it’s a movement towards chemical-free living.

From Humble Beginnings to Bath Salt Sensation

Surya Varshan’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. In his early teens, he realized his entrepreneurial spirit while buying chocolates with pocket money and selling them at a profit during festive seasons.

This early spark ignited a passion for business that would later drive his endeavors.With just 200 rupees saved from his pocket money, Surya embarked on his entrepreneurial journey.

His first creation was a simple yet effective product – Bath Salt. Drawing inspiration from the local practices in Thoothukudi, where salt was used for everything from cooking to wound healing, he formulated Hibiscus Bath Salt, priced at an affordable Rs 320.But the path to success was not easy. Being a young entrepreneur, he faced skepticism and struggled to convince people to take his products seriously. Yet, he persevered, working relentlessly to promote his brand.

A Visionary’s Transition: From Offline to Online

While studying engineering in Chennai, Surya continued to nurture his startup dream. Every weekend, he traveled back to Madurai to focus on his venture. His dedication paid off when an Ayurvedic doctor purchased a container of Bath Salt.

This initial breakthrough infused him with confidence and led to the pivotal decision of relocating to Velammal College of Engineering in Madurai, allowing him to wholeheartedly pursue his business alongside his studies.

However, challenges persisted. Delayed payments from local stores prompted Surya to explore online sales. He embarked on a journey to learn internet advertising and digital marketing, providing online classes in these fields to gather funds. Remarkably, he collected Rs 2.20 lakh through these sessions, which he wisely reinvested in expanding his startup.

The Birth of Naked Nature

In 2019, Surya Varshan’s dedication and hard work bore fruit when he received an order for 200 hair oils from the Maldives. This milestone marked the birth of a small factory startup that would change the skincare and haircare landscape. There was no turning back from this point.

Why Naked Nature?

Naked Nature isn’t just another skincare brand; it’s a commitment to ethical skincare. It manufactures products exclusively from desi-cow ghee, addressing skincare and haircare issues without resorting to hidden ingredients, chemicals, preservatives, or colorings. This ethical approach earned it the name ‘Naked Nature,’ signifying complete transparency in its marketing efforts, devoid of flashy celebrity endorsements or fictitious clients.

Today, Naked Nature offers an impressive range of 47 products. During FY 2021-22, it achieved a turnover of Rs 56 lakh and earned a valuation of Rs 10 Crores. The subsequent fiscal year, FY 2022-23, saw a meteoric rise, with a valuation of Rs 30 Crores. But success is not just measured in numbers.

Surya Varshan’s incredible journey earned him recognition on various platforms.

He won the Global Students’ Entrepreneur Award 2021-22 hosted by the Coimbatore Chapter of EO, receiving a grant of Rs 1 lakh. Naked Nature also received a certificate of recognition in Nationwide Startup Awards 2022, earning the title of the best-emerging skincare brand.
